Working principle of lightning protection valve:

The lightning protection valve generates a path that returns current to earth and then restores the normal state under operating conditions. Some current line surge arrester and medium voltage lightning arrester have a breaker connected in series to the end of the surge valve. This breaker will operate when there is a power frequency failure
